A Better AV Experience for About $2K

I did a little bit of research and put together entertainment system that I proudly recommend to my sister, or anyone else not looking to dump a load on electronics.  It includes everything you would need to create a good entertainment experience with all the bells and whistles like 3D TV, Blu-Ray player, the best in surround sound and a 110watt active subwoofer. The System is as follows:

Speakers from www.nhthifi.com
1 x NHT Super Surround 5.1 (5 x SuperZero 2.0 speakers & 1 x Super8 active subwoofer)$ 799.00

TV from www.bigoutlet.com
1 x Samsung Factory Refurbished PN50C675G6FXZA 50 inch 1080p Plasma $ 729.99

Blu-Ray player from www.walmart.com
1 x Samsung BD-C6800 Blu-ray 3D Disc Player, Refurbished  $ 128.00

Interconnect Cables from www.cablesforless.com
1 x Value 12 Foot Composite RCA Video Cable  $ 1.69
1 x Performance HDMI High Speed With Ethernet Cable, 3 Foot$ 15.30
1 x Performance HDMI High Speed With Ethernet Cable, 6 Foot  $ 17.43

Total$ 2,035.50

To summarize the system. You are getting a 50" full high definition TV that can play both 2D and 3D programming, a Blu-Ray player to play full 1080p video with the ability to stream video from the Internet, a surround receiver with the latest in audio decoding and plenty of power to drive the 5.1 speaker setup, and all the cables and interconnects to make everything work together.

Now understandably this is not the mac-daddy of all systems, but it is a whole lot of system for only $2,000. I'm sure there are other ways you could spend two grand, but then you wouldn’t get a huge 3D TV, a Surround Receiver, 6 speakers, a blu-ray player and all the cables to boot. All, in all… it’s not the best system ever, but it is a good one. And it proves as an example that you can get a lot out of value in an entertainment system without forking out a lot of coin for it.
